Cote d’Ivoire Equity Market | 27 Aug 2015: BRVM bourse equity gains US$74 million and indices end higher
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 294.99 to 297.26 points, a gain of 0.77 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.60 percent to 295.57 against 293.80 points previously.
The equity market capitalization fell by XOF 43 billion (about US$74 million) to close at XOF 7,293 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,250 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 228,536 traded stocks relative to 63,759 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 932.424 million (against XOF 1,360 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 traded securities via 250 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO with 197,996 traded securities (accounted for almost 87 percent of the total volume). SONATEL SENEGAL recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 284.641 million contributing nearly about 31 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 13.65 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 23.40.
Out of the 31 traded securities today, 17 stocks experienced price gains, 8 witnessed price drops and 6 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. TRACTAFRIC MOTORS COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price mover by soaring by 5.75 percent to end at XOF 230,000. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE grew by 5.47 percent at XOF 27,950 and ONATEL BURKINA FASO traded at XOF 12,400 after jumping by 3.33 percent. SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE share price surged by 3.05 percent to close at XOF 84,500 and SONATEL SENEGAL ended at XOF 25,600 with 1.59 percent gains.
FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 7.00 percent to settle at XOF 27,900 as the biggest loser and AIR LIQUIDE COTE D’IVOIRE slumped by 6.34 percent to close at XOF 19,200. Likewise, PALM COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 3.12 percent to close at XOF 15,500 and TOTAL SENEGAL crashed by 1.96 percent to trade at XOF 26,000. CIE COTE D’IVOIRE traded at XOF 81,000 after crashing by 1.22 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index rose by 1.35 percent at 162.45 points but public utilities sector index climbed by 1.59 percent to end at 813.58 points. The distribution sector index surged by 0.39 percent to end at 550.15 points and financial services sector index gained 0.07 percent to end at 107.09 points. The Agriculture sector index went down by 0.29 percent to trade at 203.11 points. Transportation sector index remained flat at 926.62 and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged at XOF 561.79 points.
